Gaby Moreno (7 Octoberz)

As long as I can remember I've been a creative. At the age of 7 years old I was making up songs in my head. I started song writing and writing lyrics/poetry at around the age of 13 years old. I am a huge movie fan and music lover. In Dec 2018 I decided I wanted to share my love for Hip Hop & Horror and I started a blog called, Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue, that has now evolved to a podcast.

 

At the same time I needed to create a social media platform for the blog, so I came up with the name 7Octoberz. This name was inspired by my love for Halloween being in the month of October and the number 7 being my favorite number, but it was also to pay homage to my abuelita Rafaela who passed away October 7th. She is one of the reasons I fell in love with music and movies as a kid!

Then in 2020, during the pandemic I decided to finally invest my time in my music and I released 2 spoken word/rap EPs, God of My Destiny and From Xibalba to Aztlan. I have also dropped singles throughout the years. In 2022 I started drawing and realized I was pretty good. I have had some of my art at art shows here in SD and also been a vendor at events.

My most recent journey is being in my poetry era, one of my poem/songs was published in 2024 in the Somos Xicanas Anthology, this has opened many opportunities that I am grateful for! This was one of the catalysts for me finally releasing my first poetry book, The Anxious Poeta, that released on March 2025!

My creative journey still continues, stay tuned for what I do next! Sometimes I even surprise myself!
